Appraisal Silver Wm Rogers Should We Clean Old Silver Coins Before Appraisal?

Should we clean old Silver coins before appraisal? - appraisal silver wm rogers

My grandfather collected silver coins, and just today found. (This was not a "collector", they were in a string bag in a metal box kept in the rafters of his studio) are Morgan dollars, Peace dollars, half dollars (about Kennedy) and neighborhoods pennies . The data range from 1880-1976. Obviously they are not in perfect condition, but certainly Clean receive a better rating than I think. My question is how best to clean before the assessment or leave it, as we find them?

As for antiques, they leave you alone.

"... The best advice we can give most people to clean coins ... no, now we see that most parts ruined by cleaning than we coins to see improved cleaning agent. In general, parts can be purified them to be improved. "

No, no, no, no! Clean them by any method available, you'll likely damage and reduce its value. Separated from each other, and everything I can to zero, ie put them in individual containers to hold, even if it means that smaller envelopes or staples. Also not to touch your face. Keep them only at the edges. Take three or four coin dealer of good reputation. Probably ball low if it allows the products they want. Most of the coins into circulation a little more than nominal value, but who knows? You may have a surprise in the collection, dollar especially Morgan. There are drop sites, shows the current value of the coins online if you have an idea of the knowledge.

Not clean!
If they were caked with dirt can be washed in soapy water, but nothing destroys the patina or "veil" on a coin, which is something of a collector, a dealer, you have to search for.

Never use mechanical force on it and rub it.
You can use a detergent such as Qwicksilver.
